Ashley was born and bred in the southern suburbs of Johannesburg, South Africa. He has always excelled at any sport that he attempted to try which led to an early childhood dream of becoming a professional athlete.

Upon leaving school and now with the vision of embarking on a career in rugby, an injury put an end to his dream. Or so he thought.

Ashley started bouncing at clubs and brothels in ‘Jozi’ to make some extra money and it was then that he was introduced to MMA. He was immediately hooked and he finally had a chance to fulfil his childhood dream once again. MMA instilled the discipline and humility that Ashley is now renowned for.

It was when he started training with Walter Wendt at Quantum Tribe gym that Ashley’s true talent and heart was revealed and he immediately started making waves on the local MMA scene.

Now well experienced in BJJ, Muay Thai and Boxing, he is now seen as one of the top MMA talents, smoking the competition at grappling tournaments and sparring with the likes of 6 x boxing world champion Cassius Baloyi.

In 2010 Ashley signed with EFC AFRICA, the biggest MMA organization in Africa. His dream had now been achieved. He has now set himself new goals, which include getting the EFC AFRICA lightweight championship belt around his waist and doing his bit to put South African MMA on the global stage, where it belongs.

Now with a taste of fulfilling dreams, nothing is going to stop him.
